Welcome back to Nursery! We hope you all had a lovely holiday and are feeling well rested and ready for a new term full of fun and learning.
This week, we have been enjoying the classic story The Three Little Pigs. The children had lots of fun acting out the story, taking turns to be the three little pigs and the big bad wolf. They especially loved saying the famous line, “Not by the hairs on my chinny chinny chin!”
Playdough
At the playdough table, the children have been busy making their own houses. They could choose to build with straw, sticks, or bricks, just like in the story. They also enjoyed using Lego bricks to press patterns into the playdough to make it look like real bricks. This helped them explore different textures while being creative.
Art and Craft Area
The children enjoyed making their own pigs and houses at the art table. They cut pieces of card into squares and stuck them onto paper to create pictures of pigs and houses.
They also used sticks and straw to make different types of houses, just like in the story. The children practised using scissors to cut the straw to the right size and design their houses. This activity helped them build their cutting skills while having fun being creative.
Tuff Tray
On the tuff tray, the children explored different textures using straw and wooden blocks. They tried building houses with these materials for their pigs to live in.
This activity encouraged the children to explore how things feel and to use their imagination while building and playing.
Cars, cars, cars! The children have enjoyed taking different vehicles on adventures around our learning space. They have specifically enjoyed our road mat. In the outdoor area, the children have been enjoying the sunshine. The tunnels were set up, and the children had lots of fun finding different ways to move through them, such as crawling, rolling, and moving backwards.
We also made a small stage where the children could sing, dance, and play musical instruments. This gave them a chance to be active, creative, and express themselves.
