Nursery Learning 15.9.25

Mr

Dear Parents and Carers,

We’ve had a wonderful second week in nursery, and we are so proud of how well the children are settling in after their initial sessions. It's been a joy to watch their confidence grow each day as they begin to explore their new environment and build relationships with their peers.

Notices

Please label all items that enter Nursery - water bottles included! Lot's of children have the same designs so it is much easier to ensure the correct bottles return to their owners.

Please bring a pair of wellies in (named pleased).

Dates

Little City - 8th October (Afternoon children are invited to attend the morning session on this date)

We have booked a mobile role play set up, Little City,  to visit our Nursery on the 8th of October. The children have a chance to step into the shoes of grown up's - whether it's running a cafe, fixing cars or being a vet. They learn to build confidence, imagination and real-world skills through play.

This week, we’ve been busy with a range of sensory and exploratory activities. Outside, the children enjoyed using pipettes to transfer water, practising fine motor skills while also experimenting with movement and flow. Indoors, we explored pouring and scooping with rice, which encouraged both independent and collaborative play. The sand pit outside has been very popular, they have started to work well together sharing items here.

We are starting to notice some lovely social moments as the children begin to recognise one another and learn each other’s names. These early connections are so important, and it's great to see friendships beginning to form. The children have enjoyed rolling, stamping and cutting in the playdough area in particular, this is a great way to develop their fine motor skills. They have also enjoyed the home corner, it has been lovely to see the children start to make dinners and share the resources together.

During story time sessions, we’ve been practising our listening skills and enjoying lots of singing. The children are becoming familiar with our routines and joining in with increased confidence.

Message

We have loved welcoming all the children into Nursery and the returning children back. They have all looked very smart this week. Just a little reminder as they start to complete full sessions, remember our main priority in Nursery is teaching independence. Make sure they are in comfortable clothes they can pull up and down themselves please.

You may wonder why your child may return home with paint on their jumper or mud on their shoes. This "mess" is evidence of deep learning. Through messy play; splashing, digging, mixing, building the children develop problem-solving, creativity and confidence. The stains will wash out, but the learning lasts a lifetime.

We’re looking forward to more fun and learning next week!
