Book of the week
The children have enjoyed listening to different stories involving families and feeling loved. We have been focusing on our Zones of regulation to identify feelings of the characters, talking about our own families and experiences.

Nursery rhyme of the week
This week the children have enjoyed actions to the song Five little ducks. We have been practicing our number bonds to 5 and subtracting one each time a duck swims away

This weeks learning
This week’s literacy focus has been encouraging the children to say what they liked and disliked about each story during group time and why. The children have been amazing at expressing their opinions, recalling the story and providing insight into the situations of the characters ie when reading “My mummy has a house in her tummy”, the children liked how the boy was excited for his new brother and was caring towards his mum when she was tired, when reading The Gingerbread Man the children liked the gingerbread man but disliked the fox and said the gingerbread man should know more about danger so he did not get eaten.
The children have been having fun making mothers day gifts using arts and craft materials.
Science week
The nursery children will be supporting the year three children to measure using non-standard units as part of their science week project. The nursery children will be measuring their height using bricks, giant blocks and A4 pictures as units of measure to count how tall they are.
The children have also been introduced to the life cycle of frogs, butterflies and humans as part of science week. The children will be learning the life cycles of frogs and butterflies in more detail in the summer term.
Red Nose day
On friday the children will be taking part on a trail walk around the school field as part of the red nose day celebrations.
2 year old focus
This week the two year olds have focussed on:
Communication and language: Nursery rhyme bag- 1,2,3,4,5, once i caught a fish alive
Physical development: practicing our fine motor skills using scissors
Expressive art & design: enjoy taking part in action songs using musical instruments by following rhythms.
Making mothers day cards.
Book of the week
The children have been listening to the little red riding hood story using props.

Bedtime story Scheme
Books will be sent home every FRIDAY.
Please return all books by WEDNESDAY.
Unfortunately books which are lost or damaged will need to be paid for.
PLEASE RETURN THE BOOKS EACH WEEK.
All books will need to be returned in the last week of each term
Focus child Meetings
Focus child meetings replace parents evenings, which take place within the rest of the school. Each week children will be chosen to be observed by their keyworker. Emails will be sent home to inform parents of the upcoming parent meeting taking place the following week, either in person or via telephone. Parents will have an opportunity to complete a form asking questions and sharing concerns they may have for the key worker to answer during the parent meeting. This form will be sent via email. Please check your emails weekly for school communications and evidence me parents share from your children's teachers. Parents are welcome to upload pictures and videos of their children at home.
Chicken pox
We would like to make all parents aware that some children within the class have come down with chicken pox. Chicken pox commonly appears as small red spots which eventually blister. Chicken pox is contagious. We have included a link from the NHS with information regarding chicken pox and what to look for. Please check your children regularly for spots. Please keep children at home until the spots have cleared up to prevent further spread of the virus and seek medical attention if required.
Key Information
Please LABEL all your children's belongings, including both shoes. Please do not send your child in with a school bag as we have very limited space and all spare clothing should be stored in the nursery. Please do not send your child in with water bottles as we have cups stored in the nursery. Most importantly please do not allow children to bring toys from home into the nursery as they may get lost, cause conflict with other children or become a dangerous hazard. All resources in the nursery are risk assessed and age appropriate to maintain the children's safety.
