Reception Fairy Tale Dress Up Day

 Fairy Tale dress up day

Dear Parents and Carers,

As part of our topic this term, we will be incorporating a ‘Fairy Tale day,’ where your child can come to school dressed as their favourite character. This will only be for Reception class children and will take place on Friday 14th February. 

Some suggestions are: Little Red Riding Hood, a wolf, Goldilocks, a prince, Peter Pan, Cinderella, the Gingerbread Man, Aladdin, Tiana, Snow White.

Your child will not need school uniform on this day, however, we do suggest bringing in jumpers and coats as the children will be outside during parts of the day. Please remember to send your child in sensible and enclosed shoes.

E for Excellence - Daniel for his amazing work in Topic this week. Daniel worked hard to make a house made out of lollipop sticks. We learnt about The Three Little Pigs and made houses from blocks, sticks and straw. Daniel could predict which houses would blow down and which ones would stay up. Well done Daniel! 

Dojo points - Zacki A for paying attention and working hard this week. Well done Zacki A! 

Star Writer - Victor for his excellent writing on The Three Little Pigs. Victor used the sound mat to write CVC words. Well done Victor!

 Important Information 

1. Evidence Me  Please do add your own videos and photos from home as parents can also share achievements. Please speak to a member of staff if you cannot access this app. 
2. Spare Clothes - Please leave a bag of spare clothes in Nursery, ideally this will be a labelled plastic bag. This bag should stay in school. 
3. Nappies and wipes - If your child is in nappies and requires changing in Nursery please bring nappies and also a pack of wipes.  You can bring in a pack and leave this here if you would prefer to do this. 
4. Lunches -For the children who stay for lunch, we would like to inform parents Broadford primary is a Heathy Eating school. Please do not provide nut based products such as peanut butter or Nutella as some of our children have nut allergies.
5. Coats - Autumn is now in full swing. We still have lots of opportunities for the children to access our curriculum outside so please ensure they are always appropriately dressed for the weather. Remember to label coats, hats, scarves and gloves too!

Dates 

Half Term - Nursery is closed for half term on the week beginning the 28th November. 

The children come back to Nursery on Tuesday 5th November (Closed 4th November for staff training). 

Wednesday 6th November - Nursery Stay and Play - Parents are invited to join us for a session focused on Communication and Language and developing early literacy. 

Creative Learning

This week, the children were very lucky to have a special guest. Alison Hemming made a special visit to our nursery and read her story, The Leaf Thief, to all of the children. The children did very well listening and joining in with the story. They then used the leaves they had collected to make their own leaf thief! The children have made lots of diffent creations with their leaves this week. 

Outdoor Learning 

As the season is changing the children are noticing more changes in the natural enviornment. They used their gross motor skills to clean up the outoor area with a range of tools.  

The children also got to work in the garden area. They raked and dug the soil, ready to plant some tulips. 

Thank you for all of your support during the first term. We are proud of the progress the children have made so far and look forward to welcoming them back after half term!

They can earn these for good listening on the carpet, being kind and polite, sharing and tidying resources or helping a friend. Each week, the child with the most dojo points will be awarded with a certificate and have their photo displayed in the classroom.

The children will be awarded with a Bronze, Silver or Gold award when they have read 15 of the 105 Books to Read Before you Leave Broadford. Please refer to the booklet in your child's reading folder for the list of books.

Please read with your child at home in order for them to have an opportunity to achieve a reading certificate.

Reception Stay & Learn - Thursday 9th November

 Reception Stay & Learn 

Dear Parents and Carers,

There will be a Reception stay and learn session on Thursday 9th November at 2:15.

The session will focus on how Reading is taught in Reception. Please come to main doors that you use in the morning and you will be admitted to the classrooms for a 2:15 start. We hope to see you there!

Important messages 

• All reading books are changed on a Friday morning. Please ensure your reading folder is placed in the box in the entrance of Nursery by Thursday.
• If your child comes out on Friday without their reading folder, please ask them to go back in and check their tray as it will have been put in there. 
• Please check at home to see if you have any books from Nursery that may have got mixed in with your own books.
• Water play is part of the children's learning which means that sometimes they can get wet. Please ensure that they have a spare set of clothes with them. 
• If you have any of the nurseries clothes (pants/knickers, socks, trousers, legging ect...) please can we ask you to return the clothing items asap as we are running low.
• Donations- we have has a couple of parents donate a bag of socks and and a few other items which has been hugely helpful. If you are having a clear out and have any socks, underwear, bottoms that you no longer require, we would gratefully receive them. 

The sun might not be shining brightly yet but as you can see from Rostam's face, we still have fun in the garden. Rostam was have a great time singing songs about minibeasts with an adult whilst in the garden. 

The children all love Friday mornings as they get to choose their own books to take home. Miss Day talks to each child about what they have been reading and ticks off the returned books.

Water play whatever the weather! The children love using the tap to fill up different containers. This week their mission was to try and fill up the water trays by carrying water in a container of their choice.

Super job by Vedashi this week. After painting a picture, she independently wrote her own name on her painting, using paint! 

Look at our 2 year olds go! This week in the snack area we were making banana milkshakes. The children loved chopping and mashing up the bananas and pouring the milk (or oat milk separately)  but the most exciting part was watching it all blend together in the mixer. The children then poured themselves a cup of milkshake.

Super building from the boys in the construction area today. They spent a long time working together creating their building. It was fantastic to observe their concentration and collaboration.
