Reception learning W/B 15.09.25

 

Year Reception: What We Are Learning 

This term our topic is Marvellous Me. Our focus book this week was The Colour Monster.


Here is what we have been up to: we have been learning all about the different emotions and how to manage our emotions. 


The children have also been working hard in Read, Write, Inc this week. The children have learnt the sounds i, n, p, g, o and have worked hard to practise writing the sounds in their Read, Write, Inc books. They have also been using the blendy boards to sound out and make 1:1 words.


In Maths this week the children have been working hard to practise their number formation. They have used the Ten Town number formation rhymes to help them to write their numbers from 0-10.

Year Reception: What We Are Learning 

This term our topic is Journeys. Our focus book this week was Naughty Bus.

Here is what we have been up to:

In Literacy we recapped our red words the,a,I,of,he,go,to,my,was,you,we,they,she,have,all,her,see,way and remembered that sentences begin with a capital letter and end with a full stop. This week we learnt how to write the set 2 sound ‘oo’ and word ‘book’. We wrote about the food the caterpillar ate.

Please continue to read 5 times a week with your children and work on set 2 or 3 sounds as well as word time words (1.5, 1.6, 1.7 etc).

Year Reception: What We Are Learning 

This term our topic is Journeys. Our focus book this week was Katie in London.

Here is what we have been up to:

This week we learnt all about London and British Values.

In Literacy we recapped our red words the,a,I,of,he,go,to,my,was,you,we,they,she,have,all,her and remembered that sentences begin with a capital letter and end with a full stop. This week we learnt how to write the set 2 sounds word ‘see’. We wrote about what landmarks we might see in London.

Please continue to read 5 times a week with your children and work on set 2 or 3 sounds as well as word time words (1.5, 1.6, 1.7 etc).

Year Reception: What We Are Learning 

This term our topic is Journeys. Our focus book this week was Handa’s Surprise.

Here is what we have been up to:

This week we learnt all about

In Literacy we recapped our red words the,a,I,of,he,go,to,my,was,you,we,they,she,have,all,are,have,said and remembered that sentences begin with a capital letter and end with a full stop. This week we learnt how to write the red word ‘her’. We wrote about the fruit in Handa’s Basket.

Please continue to read 5 times a week with your children and work on set 1 or 2 sounds as well as word time words (1.1, 1.2, 1.3 etc).




We also created African necklaces.



We then wore them to dance to some African music.


In Maths this week the children have been focusing on positional language.

Year Reception: What We Are Learning 

This term our topic is Journeys. Our focus book this week was The Way to School.


Here is what we have been up to:

This week we learnt all about different methods of getting to school and how natural disasters can prevent some children from getting to school safely.

In Literacy we recapped our red words the,a,I,of,he,go,to,my,was,you,we,they,she,have,all,said and remembered that sentences begin with a capital letter and end with a full stop. This week we learnt how to write the red word ‘are’. We wrote father’s day cards to male figures in our lives.
