Morning Nursery Gardeners

The children were busy helping to plant bulbs in the nursery garden.  They inspected the bulbs carefully and found out that water is sucked up by the roots from the soil.  The children also learnt that the bulbs need light and water to grow and flourish.  We are now going to wait patiently for some signs that our daffodils are growing.  Hopefully we will see some shoots soon and the nursery garden will be full of bloom.  Roll on springtime!

Afternoon Nursery Gardeners

The children planted a daffodil bulb each in the nursery garden.  They learnt that the bulbs needed light and water to grow and inspected the roots, imagining that they were like an elephant's trunk sucking up the water from the soil.  We hope that Spring comes soon so that we can see the results of our efforts.

More PE photos!

The children played a fun game which entailed them following instructions, developing an awareness of others and working on their large motor skills. They then got an opportunity to use the apparatus. Not only does PE support the development of larger motor skills, which then in turn enables a child to develop finer motor skills, such as writing, it also supports the development of social skills such as turn taking and cooperation.

Apple Class plant some bulbs!

We are getting ready for spring in Apple class. This afternoon we have been busy planting bulbs in our flower bed. The children were practicing using tools one handed, and we discussed how we needed to water the bulbs for them to grow. The thought that we wouldn't be able to see the plants until next year was surprising to the children and Arnez exclaimed "that's ages away!".

Apple Star Readers!

Well done to Moyin Ayodola, Ellie Brooks, Tilly Butler and Mia Warnock who all achieved their Bronze Star Reader award this week. Great job girls, keep up the reading!

More PM Nursey Pizza Making

The children had great fun today making pizzas. They talked about the process and used their senses to explore the ingredients. Kneading dough is a fantastic tool for strengthening dexterity in their hands.  We also talked about the importance of washing hands before preparing and eating food.  Finally this was a great opportunity for the children to practise their turn taking skills and think of others needs.
