Nursery Learning- 9.5.25

 Nursery newsletter

Havering Council have sent some information about some upcoming Virtual Workshops that our parents are welcome to attend. Please see below for further information:

This week we celebrated VE Day as a school. We invited the parents into the classroom to watch the children perform a a song and have a tea party. The children were very excited to sing their song with actions to the adults. They then spent some time in the environment , playing and joining in with the children's activities.

The children came in wearing blue, white and red in celebration of VE Day.

In the block area this week, the children were building towers to balance their car ramps on. They experimented with different designs and heights to see how it affected the cars speed. They noticed that the higher the tower, the faster the car would go. With an adult, they practiced using vocabulary such as, steep, fast, faster, slower, high and low.

The children have been enjoying feeding the babies with bottles in the home corner and using our new ironing set to organise their clothes. They have been particularly enjoying spraying and cleaning their home and have remembered to keep it nice and tidy!

Following on from our healthy eating session the children have been discussing brushing their teeth this week. We have used the large teeth to model how we brush our teeth and have sung a teeth brushing song to help us remember what to do.

In the snack area, we have been focusing on using a knife or scissors to chop soft foods. The adults have been working with the children to support them with holding the knife correctly.

We have taken our mark making on a larger scale this week and put down large paper, paints and a variety of resources the children could choose from. They absolutely loved using the big rollers and cars to paint lines on the paper, starting straight and then exploring the marks, moving the cars in different directions.

The children were building this week, using the large outdoor blocks. They made bridges and towers, fitting the blocks together like puzzle piece for stability.

The children have been busy in our outdoor area this week, using the mud kitchen to mix up up a storm. They used the tractor and tow to transport the resources they needed and even collected some sand from our sandpit to mix in with it all.

Some of our children have been using the sunshine to experiment with mark making, writing their names with water using a paint brush. Well done to Isabela for achieving this!
