Reception Learning W/B 05.05.25

Year Reception: What We Are Learning

This term our topic is Plants and Growth. Our focus book last week was And Tango Makes Three.

Here is what we have been up to:

This week we learnt all about eggs, hatching and life cycles.

In Literacy we recapped our red words the,a,I,of,he,go,to,my,was, you,we,they and remembered that sentences begin with a capital letter and end with a full stop. This week we learnt how to write the red word ‘she’. We wrote about the life cycle stages of a penguin.

Please continue to read 5 times a week with your children and work on set 1 or 2 sounds as well as word time words (1.1, 1.2, 1.3 etc).

We learnt about the North pole and looked at it on Google Earth. We thought about how cold it is there and that it is right at the top of the world. We also learnt about The Inuit. The Inuit are people who live in the Arctic regions of Greenland, Canada, Alaska, and Russia. They are known for being able to live in a cold harsh environment.

In Maths this week the children have been adding and taking away to 10.

We also celebrated the 80th anniversary of VE day. Thank you for coming to watch our special singing performance and joining us for afternoon tea

Well done Reception for an amazing week - keep up all your brilliant work!
