Nursery Weekly Newsletter


Term: Spring 2 Date 24.02.14

Welcome back everyone. We are pleased to be back and hope you are well rested. Our new topic for this half term is ‘Amazing Animals’. There’s so much to do and learn within this topic, however we are going to start off with animals on the Farm.

We will be reading ‘Rosie’s Walk’ and we will be singing ‘Old McDonald had a Farm’ and ‘How much is that Doggy in the window’.

Personal, Social and Emotional
Aware of boundaries set, and of behavioural expectations in the setting.
Shows confidence in asking adults for help.
Enjoys the responsibility of carrying out small tasks

Communication and Language
Uses language to imagine and recreate roles and experiences in play situations.
Questions why things happen and give explanations.
Can talk about why things happen and how things work. 

Physical Development:
Developing cutting skills.
Develop fine motor control when writing their name.
Using various construction materials.

Mathematics
Recites some number names in sequence.
Recites numbers in order to 10.
Uses some number names accurately in play. 

Understanding of the World
Can talk about why things happen and how things work.
Notices detailed features.
Seeks to acquire basic skills in turning on and off operating some ICT equipment.

Expressive Arts and Design
Captures experiences and responses with a range of media, such as music, dance, paint and other materials
Uses available resources to create props to support role play, creating props for the vets.
Role playing the story of  Rosie’s walk.

Literacy
Listens to and joins in with poems.
Can copy some letters from their name.
Beginning to be aware of the way stories are structured.

Messages.
Thank you to all of the parents who attended a ‘Parent meeting’. We had very positive feedback from most of you and are glad to hear how happy your children are coming to the Nursery. We know they certainly put a smile on our faces every day.
