We have added different sized socks to enhance the sand tray this week. The children have been enjoying watching the socks change shape as they fill them. They have noticed its really tricky to fill the pop socks to the top and the sand spreads out at the bottom!
It has helpd the children to develop their fine motor skills as they have to concentrate on holding the socks open and carefully spooning in sand, and also it has encouraged them to use mathematical language to compare the size, shape and weight of their socks.
