Personal, Social and Emotional:
We are encouraging the children to identify the feelings of characters in stories and talk about their own feelings.

Communication and Language/Literacy:
We are encouraging the children to learn Nursery Rhymes and join in with actions to help them re-tell these. We are focusing on learning the rhymes ''The Big Ship Sailed on the Ally, Ally" and "It's Raining, It's Pouring" this week. They are encouraged to listen carefully to adults telling the rhymes and say the missing words.
The child are playing word and sound games to encourage them to hear the initial sound of words and begin to blend and segment orally e.g. understand that the word c-a-t spoken in sounds makes cat.
The children are always encouraged to use the correct tenses and word endings when talking.
Physical Development:
This week we have a variety of obstacle courses set up for physical sessions, the children will be encouraged to crawl, slither, hop and run between courses and jump and land appropriately.
To support physical writing skills we have added pirate maps to the writing tables to encourage the children to mark make and hold pencils correctly.

Mathematics:
This week we are focusing on shape. The children will be learning a shape song, playing games to increase recognition of shapes and taking trips around the school with adults to recognise shapes in the environment.
Expressive Art and Design:
The children will be encouraged to paint the shapes available to create their own shape pictures.

Role Play:
We have developed our Role Play Corner into an Ice - cream parlour.
The home corner has been enhanced with babies and items to look after babies as the children really enjoyed the baby clinic last half term.
If you have any empty food containers with labels the children can use to support play in the home corner this would be much appreciated e.g. cornflake boxes, empty ketchup bottles.

This Newsletter can be seen on the Broadford Primary School Facebook Page and the EYFS Blog which you can reach from the school website. If you follow the school Facebook page you will see lots of blogs including photos of the children's time in Nursery.
