Reception Newsletter 04.12.17

Dear Parents,

Please be aware that the morning EYFS Nativity has been moved to 9.15am on Tuesday 12th December.
The Nativity ticket slips need to be returned by Tuesday 5th December, so that the tickets can be allocated and if you haven't already sent your child's costume in, please do so as soon as possible.

We are grateful for all of the milk bottle lid donations for our wood work area, we would appreciate your continued support with this matter.  Please put them in the labelled box in the outside area.

This week we will be reading the text ‘Aliens Love Underpants’  and carrying various related tasks.
       
     The learning objectives:
Personal, Social and Emotional
Aware of boundaries set, and of behavioural expectations in the setting.
Shows some understanding that good practices with regard to exercise, eating, sleeping and hygiene can contribute to good health.
Can describe self in positive terms and talk about abilities

Communication and Language
Beginning to understand why and how questions.
Can retell a simple story..
Builds up vocabulary that reflects the breadth of their experiences.

Literacy
Writes name and other things such as labels, captions.
Shows interest in illustrations and print in books  and print in the environment.
Describes main story settings, events and principal characters.

Physical Development:
Uses one handed tools.
Can usually manage washing and drying hands.
Runs skillfully and negotiates spaces successfully.

Mathematics
Says the number that is one more than a given number.
Uses the language of ‘more’ and ‘less’ to compare two groups of object.
Shows an interest in shape and space by playing with shapes or making arrangements with objects.

Understanding The World
Recognises and describes special times or events for family or friends.
Shows an interests in different ways of life.
Can talk about some of the things they have observed.



Expressive arts and design
Engages in imaginative role play based on first-hand experiences.
Uses construction material pieces to build and balance.
Explores colour and how colour can be changed.

       Learning Challenge
      Each half term we will be setting our pupils a challenge related to their learning. We believe that it is important for us to provide guidance for parents on how their children's learning can be extended at home.
      The learning challenge will include either a nursery rhyme, famous person,  illustration or a piece of music. Please talk to your child about the challenge and help them to engage in their learning. The children can choose how they present their learning challenge outcomes to their teacher or class.  The table below demonstrates some guidance.
