Reception Weekly Newsletter

Term: Spring 1 Date 10.03.14

Feeling inspired from the visiting author, Petr Horacek last week, our learning this week will be based around his books with a particular focus to his illustrations. We will continue with our ‘Growing and Changing’ topic next week.
Your child will be taking part in the following activities within the seven areas of development (although the skills remain the same, the activities may differ depending on the children’s interests):

Personal, Social and Emotional Development:
During Circle time we will be discussing ways in which we have been using Reciprocity, Resilience, Resourcefulness and Reflectiveness.

Communication and Language:
All the children have a set reading day. Please make sure their book is in school at least for their reading day. We praise the children who regularly read at home to an adult and have a reward system in place. Many children have already received their bronze award.

We will be sharing Petr Horacek’s story – hot seating characters from the story.

Physical:
The children will be continuing to go out in small groups with Mr Clark. All children need a PE kit in school.
Fine manipulatives skills are set up daily to improve children’s pencil control.

Literacy:
Writing our names encouraging correct letter formation.
We will be continuing our daily Read, Write Inc. sessions.

Maths:
Playing number bingo.
Learning doubles up to 10 and beyond.
Looking at number bonds to 10.

Understanding of the World:
Using the 2simple programme on the computer to create art work.

Expressive Arts and Design:
Enjoying our daily dance warm up to the ‘5 a day’ fitness programme.
Taking part in a music scheme – Music express – linking music with stories.
Role play - The Giant’s castle and Flower shop.

Messages:
Please follow Broadford on facebook (remember to press the ‘like’ button) and twitter. We update the Early Years blog regularly with photos and information.

Homework:
Please continue to read daily with your child and sign their reading record. When your child brings home their words, please practise them as this supports their learning in school.

Many thanks to the children and parents who regularly bring in work from home that the children have done – it is always lovely to see children following up their learning at home.

Thank you for your continued support.
