Nursery Newsletter 26.2.18

Dear Parent/Carer,

The children enjoyed learning about the traditions of Chinese New Year and sampling Chinese food.
They have been acting out making pancakes in the home corner so we have decided to follow the
children’s interests and focus on the story ‘Mr Wolf’s Pancakes’ this week.
The children will be able to make pancakes in small groups and choose from a selection of fruit
toppings.
This Thursday is World Book Day. Nursery will join the rest of the school and dress up as their favorite
book character for the day.

Art
The children have access to different mark making resources and equipment to make collages
and create their own pictures.

Mathematics
This week we will begin our ‘Ten Town’ programme and learn the number stories relating to zero
and one. This will support the children to recognise and form these numbers correctly.

Physical
In their weekly PE lessons the children will be learning how to throw a catch small soft balls.

Snack
The children will be making pancakes to taste this week.

Communication and Language
Encouraging children to use simple sentences correctly.
Encouraging children to hold a conversation and respond to comments.
We will be supporting the children to learn how to tell stories this week by selecting pictures
from story bags.

Understanding of the World
In the home corner we will be giving the children opportunities to re-enact experiences and talk
about their home lives.

Personal and Social Development
Ensuring children are able to co-operate with routines and some boundaries.
Modelling the correct behaviours in play, ensuring children use resources well and begin to share
with other children.

Messages
We have had a report of threadworm in EYFS. To control the spread of this it is important children
regularly wash their hands well. We will make new playdough with the children every day and ensure
equipment is thoroughly sterilized after use to ensure this is not spread in Nursery .

Kind regards,
The Nursery Team
