Reception Learning - W.C 24.2.25

 Reception: What We Are Learning

Reception have been working really hard this week. Our focus book was The Train Ride

Here is what we have been up to: The children have been learning the history of trains and fun facts about them. They have painted their own trains using different resources and they looked fabulous. The children also found a magic ticket and spoke about where they would wish of going to on a train.

The children have also been working hard in Read, Write, Inc this week. The children have all been assessed and are now working in groups based on this. Our Literacy focus was writing about where we would go on a train. We used works like the park, cinema, beach and shops. The children practised writing the red words; go and to. Please continue to read 5 times a week with your children and work on set 1 or set 2 sounds as well as word time words (1.1, 1.2, 1.3 etc).

In Maths this week the children have been learning about time. They have sequenced events such as getting ready for school and making a jam sandwich. They understood that everything changes over time including them.

Well done Reception for an amazing week - keep up all your brilliant work!

Nursery take a trip on the bus!

Nursery take a trip on the bus!

This half term, we have been learning about all things transport in Nursery. The pre school children were very excited to be able to take a trip on the bus before half term!

We talked about our journey and how to stay safe when leaving school before setting off. The children enjoyed sitting at the top of the bus and looking out of the window! We had lots of great observations from them about all the things they could see, lots of them recognising places in their local area. We then arrived at Harold Wood Station and spent a few minutes watching the trains before heading back to school on the bus.

Thank you to our parent helpers for coming along!

'A few people are getting off and it's getting emptier.' - Kasim

'I spotted another bus' - Amaya

'Oh look, a cat' - David
