EYFS: Information about Havering Childminders

Following requests from parents and carers, this blog provides information about local childminders.

Parents are free to use the childcare they feel is best for the needs of their family.  Parents must make their own enquiries about a provider before they use them.  The information provided below gives an overview of provider types.

Childminders

  • Childminders on the Childcare Register provide care for one or more children aged between three months and eight year olds, or from eight years old to 18 years old, in a home environment - usually their own.

  • Registered childminders are usually self-employed but can also work as part of a Childminder Agency.

  • All registered childminders are inspected by Ofsted.

  • Childminders care for up to six children under the age of eight, including their own, but only three of them can be under five.

  • Childminders who want to work in the child’s home may be added to the Ofsted voluntary register and are classed as home Childcarers. To register call Ofsted on 0300 123 1231

Funded early education childcare places - Eligible childminders in Havering can deliver early education and childcare places to two, three and four year olds for both the universal and extended entitlements.

Where can I find local childminders?

Here you can access a list of childminders in Havering. You can filter the childminders by area, school pick ups and funding.

The toy soldiers go missing for many years. Think about old and new and past and present. Think about toys and how toys have changed over time. As you have grown up the toys you enjoyed playing with changed over time.

Think about the toys that you play with and how they have changed over time. Go through How our Toys have Changed Timeline. What toy did you use to play with? What do you play with now? Go through the toys and put the toys into the correct order on the timeline.

Look at the Toys Over Time. Toys have changed through time. Look at the old toys and the new toys. Look at the current toys we have today. Are any of the old toys still popular today? Have the toys changed through time?

Look at the toys through time. Do you think these toys are old or new? How can you tell? Sort the toys into old and new: Toys Old/New. How can you tell?

Can you design a new toy? Look at the toys from yesterday’s session and write a short description or label your toy.

Wellbeing Wednesday

Reception, on Wellbeing Wednesday you can take a break from your computers and devices and take part in lots of fun, different activities outside or around your home.

This afternoon…

Play the Keep it Moving Game and get ready to have some fun while getting active! You can play it inside or outside your home. Other members of your family can join in and play alongside you. You can roll a dice or use an online: Dice Roller. Don’t forget to let us know who the winner was and send us any photos of you and your family playing the game to us via Evidence Me or Email.

You could also go for a walk in your local area. What did you notice on your walk? Did you see any animals or notice any changes to any of the trees or wildlife?

You may want to help your family with any chores around the house. You could tidy your room or help with folding clothes away or washing up.

Why not help your family to prepare and make a healthy dinner or bake something delicious in the afternoon!

We hope you enjoy taking part in Wellbeing Wednesday.

Please let us know what you got up to and share your learning with us!

Please email us at eyfs@broadford.havering.sch.uk to contact a member of the Reception Team. Please submit work using a Parent Postcard on Evidence Me. Keep checking the Broadford More Blogs page EYFS Blog Page and Facebook page for updates.

Best wishes
