Nursery Learning 25.4.24

Important Nursery rules

  • The nursery doors open at 8.30am for 10 minutes each morning. We politely remind parents to please arrive on time, as late arrivals cause upset to the other children and prevent activities from taking place.
  • For AM collection the nursery doors open at 11.15am until 11.30 am. Please ensure children are collected on time.
  • For PM collection The nursery doors open at 3pm until 3.20pm. Please ensure children are collected on time. Children not collected by 3.20pm will be taken o the late collection point within the school and will need to be collected via the school office.
  • The nursery team would like to remind parents: Please leave a bag with a spare set of clothing at nursery. This bag should be a labelled drawstring bag or a carier bag. As we do not have space for rucksacks, childrens rucksacks will be returned. Rucksacks take up space on pegs making it challenging for the children to access their belongings.
  • We would also like to remind parents toys from home are not allowed in the nursery. They can be dangerous, cause incidents over sharing and the children become very upset when they get lost or damaged.
  • Children are only allowed to wear small studded earrings to nursery to avoid accidents/loss, no hooped earrings are permitted.
  • No food is permitted into the nursery sessions. Lunch boxes should be placed on the lunch trolley. Please ensure no food contains nuts as we are a nut free school.

Thank you for your co-operation

Story of the week

This week the children have been listening to our story of the week, 'The very lazy ladybird'. The children can confidently retell the story, we have discussed the beginning, middle and end of the story together.

Fun with numbers

This week the children have been practicing how to write the number 5. Our ten town focus number of the week is number Fiona Five. The children love using their magic pencils to write numbers in the air. We have been making sure we practice counting backwards and forwards in order from 0.

Snack

This week the children have created their own delicious ladybirds. They helped to cut the strawberries and added a head and some spots for each their own ladybird.

Creative Fun

The children enjoyed using shaving foam in  a tuff tray this week. They enjoyed using their hands to explore the texture. They used paint brushes and rollers to make marks and develop their control.

The children enjoyed mixing and creating mud potions in the mud kitchen this week. They used recycled resources to add drops of water to their potions and worked well as a group to mix and stir.

We have had some lovely shiny pictures in the art area this week. The children have been enjoying spreading the glue and adding sequins to their drawings.

Listening Games

In order to support the children's literacy skills this week we have been learning about syllables. The children learn that large words can be broken into chunks. We have been passing the tambourine around and tapping the syllables in our name.

Here is a little video of how children clap syllables so you can support this at home.
