Reception's Trip to Call Of The Wild Zoo

Reception's Trip to Call Of The Wild Zoo

What a brilliant day we had visiting Call Of The Wild Zoo on Friday! We were so impressed with how sensible each and every child was during the trip and it was lovely for the children to be able to develop their knowledge around animals and lifecycles.

The day started by getting onto the coach and singing some of our favourite songs to pass the time on the journey. Once we arrived, it was time to look around the zoo! We saw some smaller animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs and meerkats as well as pigs, monkeys and even an ostrich!

We were then lucky enough to receive an educational talk from some of the knowledgeable staff at the zoo. We were able to pass around boxes containing a cockroach and a stick insect, giving us the chance to have a closer look at some creepy crawlies. We also had the opportunity to stroke snakes!

Next up, it was lunchtime and we all enjoyed devouring our packed lunches after a busy morning! With no time to waste, it was back into the zoo to see the remaining animals before we headed off back to school. The weather was not on our side but we are never discouraged by a little rain and even managed to have a quick play in the park before we got back on the coaches.

Tired and soggy but full of joy from our exciting day, it was time for more songs (and a rest) on the journey back.

Thank you to all of our lovely parents who came along to support us on the trip, it would not have been possible without you!

ATTENTION RECEPTION PARENTS: Transitioning to Year 1

 Transitioning to Year 1

As we are heading into the last week of the year, we would like to encourage children to walk down to their classrooms independently. This is to support them in the transition to Year 1 where parents will not be permitted down to the classrooms.

Please wave your children goodbye at the door and encourage them to walk down the ramp and into their classrooms. Teachers will of course be on the doors during this time to ensure everyone gets to the right place. You can remind children that they will be rewarded with dojo points if they come into class independently!

Many thanks

The Reception Team

ATTENTION RECEPTION PARENTS: School Trip Reminder

 School Trip Reminder

Please put packed lunches for the school trip in carrier bags so that they can be disposed of during the day. This will prevent children from needing to carry extra things around with them. Adults will keep hold of water bottles so the children will have access to them throughout the day.
