Parent Meetings

The week after half term, we will be holding parent meetings to discuss how your child has settled into nursery. Over the next week, your allocated time slot will be sent to you via Evidence Me. 

We will also post your appointment time on the nursery door, so please remember to check there.

Each meeting will last no longer than 10 minutes. If you would prefer a phone call instead, please either email us or inform a member of staff at the nursery door in the morning.

The school will be holding a Christmas Disco. This is an event you will need to pay for. Please use the QR code to do this. You can also find the QR code on the nursery door.

If your child only attends morning sessions, they are welcome to come to this, but please 

do not bring them to the nursery door. 

They will need to enter via the door on the right hand side of the office. There will be someone on the door to help you 

This week in nursery, we have had so much fun exploring and learning through play!

Slime and Dinosaurs Adventure
The children enjoyed some messy outdoor play with slime that we enhanced by adding dinosaurs. It was wonderful to see them fascinated by the way the slime moved and stretched. Many children used their imaginations to create exciting pretend play scenarios with the dinosaurs, sparking creativity and social interaction.

Sticky Spiderweb Nature Exploration

We also took our curiosity outside to explore natural items like leaves, twigs, and petals. The children loved collecting these treasures and sticking them onto our giant sticky spiderweb. This activity helped them learn about the different textures and properties of natural materials.

Sensory Group Time

During group time, we used our senses to explore the world around us. The children engaged in activities that encouraged listening, touching, smelling, and observing, helping them develop their awareness and understanding of their environment.

Mark Making with Sticks
Inside, we’ve been encouraging early writing skills by mark making with sticks in the flour tuff tray. This fun sensory activity helped the children develop their fine motor skills and express their creativity.

Congratulation to Eslem, who has been awarded the E for Excellence certificate for her surper tidying skills this week. Eslem saw the art area was very messy and without being asked, she went over and started putting all the resources back in the correct place. Well done Elsem, keep it up! 

Congratulations to Millie, who has been awarded the E for Excellence certificate for her creative skills. Millie has been working hart in the art area, exploring lots of different materials. We love to see this Millie, keep going!

Our focus book was Elmer:

.Here is what we have been up to: The children have also been working hard in Read, Write, Inc this week. They revisited the first 16 sounds from Set 1 to reinforce their phonics knowledge. Please continue to read with your children and work on these sounds with them.

In Topic, we have been learning about diversity. We have celebrated our differences and understood that we all belong!

In Maths this week the children have been learning about patterns. They worked hard to continue the repeated patterns. The children also worked in pairs to create a repeating pattern with action images. Well done Reception for your hard work in Maths this week!

“Be bright, be seen”

We spread awareness of road safety and ensure the children can easily be seen when near traffic.

Next week, as part of our Expressive Arts and Design curriculum, the children will be making wands linking to the story Room on the Broom. To make the wands we will need sticks and dried leaves. If you go out on a walk, please do collect some and bring them into school for us to use before next Friday.

Why We're Wearing Bright Colours Today , Be Bright, Be Seen! 🌟

Today at Broadford, you may have noticed the children looking extra colourful and it’s all for a very good reason!

As the darker mornings and evenings of autumn and winter set in, it becomes much harder for drivers to see pedestrians especially little ones. That’s why we’re taking part in ‘Be Bright, Be Seen’, a day to raise awareness about the importance of being visible and staying safe near roads.

Wearing bright and reflective clothing can make a big difference in helping children be seen by motorists. Something as simple as a brightly coloured coat or a high-visibility strip on a bag can greatly improve visibility during the school run.

Here are a few easy ways to help your child stay safe this season:

• 🌈 Choose coats or accessories in bright colours

• 🎒 Add reflective strips to school bags

• 💡 Use fluorescent armbands or stickers on darker coats

• 👀 Wear reflective clothing when walking or cycling in the dark

And it’s not just for children, adults should be visible too! The more we all stand out, the safer we’ll be.

Outdoors, the children have been putting their physical skills to great use by rolling large tyres around the play area. This activity not only supports their gross motor development but also encourages teamwork and perseverance. We have seen lots of smiling faces and determined efforts!

In the playdough area, we’ve been getting creative with pasta to make face shapes. This has sparked wonderful conversations about the different parts of our face, helping the children build awareness of their own features while developing fine motor skills and imagination.

In the art area we have introduced tracing paper and pumpkin templates to support the children’s early writing and drawing skills. These fun autumnal activities are helping to strengthen pencil grip and control, building the foundations for confident mark making and writing.

In the snack area, we’ve been practicing using cutlery to spread butter on toast. It’s been a great opportunity for the children to develop their hand-eye coordination and independence, not to mention enjoying the delicious results of their hard work. 

Our young artists have been expressing themselves on a large scale outdoors! Using rollers, paintbrushes, and powder paints, they’ve created wonderful masterpieces while experimenting with colour, texture, and technique. It’s been messy, creative fun, just as it should be!

Raheem has been awarded the E for Excellence certificate for his fantastic use of language. We love hearing how confident Raheem is becoming, asking teachers lots of questions and joining in during group time.

Nicoly has been awarded the E for Excellence certificate for her super art skills. Nicoly showed excellent concentration as she mixed colours and independently painted pictures of pumkins.

Well done to Levi, who has been awarded the E for Excellence certificate for his fantastic engagement in nursery!

Levi has settled in beautifully and is really enjoying his time in the setting. We love watching him immerse himself in his play, showing great focus on his interests and the tasks he chooses to explore.

It's been wonderful to see Levi growing in confidence and discovering new areas of the nursery with such curiosity and enthusiasm.
