Nursery Bug Hunt

The Nursery children all went on a bug hunt around the school field. They found spiders, beetles and other mini beasts. They had great fun using magnifying glasses and looking up the creatures in non fiction books.

Stay and Play picnic day

All the children, staff, parents and careers had a wonderful time at the stay and play picnic afternoon. The sun even came out too!

School Council Visit to Mead

The School Council met up with other school councils in the area to talk about all the activities they had taken part in this year. The children behaved impeccably and represented the school well.

Nursery Newsletter

The children have enjoyed learning about mini beasts and we will continue to do so, this week.  Also the children have asked to create a Pirate ship in the role play area.  This will be evolving throughout the week with the children helping to create it. 

 

We will be reading other mini beast stories by Eric Carle this week and continuing to sing the mini beast rhymes such as Incy Wincy, Worm at the bottom of the garden and ladybird ladybird fly away home.

 

Personal, Social and Emotional

·         Aware of own feelings and knows that some actions and words can hurt others feelings.

·         Welcomes and values praise for what they have done.

·         Confident to talk to other children when playing and will communicate freely about own home and community.

 

Communication and Language                                              

·         Uses talk to connect ideas, explain what is happening and anticipate what will happen next, recall and relive past experiences.

·         Question why things happen and gives explanations. E.G asks who, why,        what, where.

·         Describes main story setting, events and principles of characters.

 

Physical Development:

·         Holds pencil with thumb and two fingers no longer using whole hand grasp.

·         Can copy some letters e.g letters from their name.

·         Runs skillfully and negotiates space successfully, adjusting speed or direction to avoid obstacles.

 

     Mathematics

·         Uses some number names and number language spontaneously.

·         Beginning to talk about the shape of everyday objects e.g. round and tall

·         Beginning to use the language of size.

 

Understanding of the World

·         Knows that information can be retrieved from computers.

·         Knows how to operate simple equipment, e.g. turns on CD player and uses remote control.

·         Talks about why things happen and how things work.

 

Expressive Arts and Design

·         Beginning to be interested in a describe the texture of things

·         Explores colour and how colour can be changed.

·         Captures experiences and responses with a range of media, such as music dance and paint and other materials or words.

 

 

 

 

Literacy

·         Learning about the sound ‘p’.

·         Knows that print carries meaning and in English is read from left to right and top to bottom.

·         Ascribes meanings to marks they see in different places

 

 

 

Messages.

 

Thank you to all of you who have been sending in objects beginning with the sound of the week, this week the sound is  ? We encourage the children to place the objects on the sound table and the other children know that they can look at,  but not move them, as they may get lost or broken.  However many of the children have been bringing in toys from home, unrelated to the sound, just to play with.  We would appreciate it if you could encourage your children not to this, as these toys are causing unnecessary arguments.

Afternoon nursery 100 percent attendance for June

Well done Charlie, Chloe, Summer-Rose, Alfie, Deborah, George, Olivia and Alex for coming to Nursery every day in June.

Hunting for treasure

The children enjoyed hunting for gold coins in the sand. Each coin had a different word on it. The children had to use to their phonic skills to decode the words and decide whether they were real words or alien words. The real words were put in the treasure chest and the alien words in the 'bin'.
