Morning Nursery Stay and Play

Thank you to all of the parents and carers who attended this mornings session. It was great to see a good turn out! We hope you found the session useful and look forward to the next stay and play. The children clearly enjoyed showing parents around their environment.
If you have a preference for a topic to focus our next session around speak to one of the Nursery staff or if you haven't already bring back a feedback form.

"I had lots of fun today!" John
" Look my mummy is playing with me here!" Aksinan

Following the talk on supporting Communication and Language here are our top tips on supporting your child:
* Give them time to think - Children need more time than adults to think about what they have heard and respond back.
*Use simple language when giving instructions.
*Make it easier for them to listen - Have a time you turn TV's, radios, Ipads off and help the children focus on your words.
*Build on what they say - Adding one or two words to what they say supports your child onto the next stage of talking. If your child says ' big bus' you say 'Yes look at the big, red bus'.
*Speak in your home language - It is important the children hear you using good language and they have a rich language to later translate to English.
*Show them the right way - Young children often make mistakes. Show them you understand and rather than asking them to repeat the words correctly model the correct speech yourself. E.g. If you child says 'Look at the dod', you can say 'Yes, it's a dog'.
