Superworm!

What an exciting start to our story of the week! The reception children have been busy finding and observing real life worms. Our story this week is Superworm by Julia Donaldson. It is a fabulous text with great illustrations all about an unlikely superhero.... a worm!

The children enjoyed holding the worms as we found out some facts about them. "Did you know worms have no teeth or eyes?" explained Tavia to some of the other children after we found this information in a non-fiction book. Jaevon wasn't too keen on holding the worms but quickly decided to get the magnifying glasses from the investigation area so he could take a closer look.

The children shared the information about worms with each other and it provided them with a great opportunity to develop their communication and language skills. "I think my worm is the longest" said Sophia as she carefully held the worm in her hands.

We are going to be busy building a Wormery later in the week, so we can watch the worms tunnel. Along with writing potions to help defeat evil Wizard Lizard.
