Reception Newsletter 27.03.17

Dear Parents,
We will be exploring the celebration of Easter this week, sequencing events and carrying out some cooking.  We also have parent appointments on Tuesday and Wednesday, and parent share reports will be emailed directly to you on Thursday.

We will be reading and exploring various texts.  

Our Learning Objectives for this term are:-
Personal, Social and Emotional:
Explains own knowledge and understanding, and asks appropriate questions of others.
Aware of the boundaries set, and of behavioural expectations in the setting.
Confident to speak to others about own needs, wants, interests and opinions.
                       
Communication and Language:
Listens and responds to ideas expressed by others in conversation or discussion.
Extends vocabulary, especially by grouping and naming, exploring the meaning and sounds of new words.
ELG: They give their attention to what others say and respond appropriately, while engaged in another activity.

Physical Development:
Practices some appropriate safety measures without direct supervision.Uses simple tools to effect changes to materials.
Children show good control and coordination in large and small movements.

Literacy:
Uses vocabulary and forms of speech that are increasingly influenced by their experiences of books.
Attempts to write short sentences in meaningful contexts.Enjoys an increasing range of books.
Uses vocabulary and forms of speech that are increasingly influenced by their experiences of books.

Mathematics:
Uses everyday language related to time.
Orders and sequences familiar events.
Uses familiar objects and common shapes to create and recreate patterns and build models.

Expressive Art and Design:
Understands that different media can be combined to create new effects.
Manipulates materials to achieve a planned effect.
Constructs with a purpose in mind, using a variety of resources.

Understanding the World:
Looks closely at similarities, differences, patterns and change.
Comments and asks questions about aspects of their familiar world such as the place where they live or the natural world.
They make observations of animals and plants and explain why some things occur, and talk about changes.

Learning Challenge
Each half term we will be setting our pupils a challenge related to their learning. We believe that it is important for us to provide guidance for parents on how their children's learning can be extended at home.
The learning challenge will include either a nursery rhyme, famous person, illustration or a piece of music. Please talk to your child about the challenge and help them to engage in their learning. The children can choose how they present their learning challenge outcomes to their teacher or class.
