After focusing on the story 'The gingerbread man' the children have been exploring ginger. We used ground ginger to bake gingerbread men and also added this to the play dough. After looking at the ginger root and talking about herbs and spices the children also had the opportunity to explore different herbs and spices in the play dough area. They had scissors available to carefully cut the herbs and make their own creations. This led to lots of discussion and use of the senses.
