Reception Bridge Building

The Reception children have started a new topic of Traditional Tales this week.  They have had great fun reading and joining in with the repeated refrains of the Gingerbread Man.  After reading the text a number of times we began to explore alternative endings...What if the Gingerbread Man didn't get eaten, what if he got away?  The children used their reflective skills to discuss an explore various scenarios.
Danny creatively suggested "A helicopter might come and rescue him!"

After much discussion we decided to work collaboratively to build bridges for the Gingerbread Man to escape.  The children really enjoyed this task and were completely engaged in the building the structures to ensure the Gingerbread Man could escape.
Mackenzie made a discovery "The foam melts in the water".
