Reception Toast Marshmallows!

You may have noticed your child coming home from school today smelling a little smokey! Reception have spent the afternoon toasting marshmallows and singing songs around a campfire. Singing songs around a campfire is one of the 48 experiences children will partake in during their time at Broadford. The week of Bonfire night seemed like a fitting time to do so.

Before heading down to the campfire the children discussed ways to stay safe around the fire. Each class agreed that they needed to listen to instructions, remember to walk and that they should stay seated whilst waiting for their turn. The children followed the rules fantastically and all of the staff were very impressed.

We sang a few of our favourite songs around the campfire and also learnt some new ones including Campfire's Burning. The children loved toasting and tasting their marshmallows and bananas and there were a few sets of sticky fingers and faces to be found.

"Campfire's burning, campfire's burning,
draw nearer, draw nearer,
in the glowing, in the glowing,
come sing and be merry."

"It was so sticky!" Aisha
"Look at all the smoke." Max
"They tasted great!" Dominic J
