A quest to save Barney Bear!

After arriving to school on Friday morning ready for a day of pirate fun the children of Apple class discovered that their class bear, Barney had been captured! The bear-nappers had left a note that the children set straight to work decoding and reading together. "They've taken Barney, they're going to make him walk the plank!" exclaimed Ethan. "Quick we need to search everywhere for Barney!" exclaimed Archie.

The children spent the morning looking far and wide for Barney but to no such luck. Upon their return from assembly there was another note left from the mysterious pirate. It was a clue! Apple class quickly put their heads together to solve the clue and set off on a treasure hunt around the school to rescue Barney Bear. It was fantastic to see the teamwork displayed by Apple class and also the progress they've had made this year in their reading. The children were able to work together without any adult support to read the clues and follow them.

"There is a place in school where you can go to find a book, here you must go to take a look." There was much discussion with Layla suggesting the reading books in the KS1 corridor, Thomas suggesting the reading area and Laura thinking the next clue was in the library. The children successfully followed all the clues which finally led them back to Apple class where they found Barney Bear tied to a chair. They quickly rescued him and there was excited celebrations that Bareny had been reunited with Apple Class.
