Visiting the Vets!

As part of our topic growing and changing this half term the children have been enjoying their new vets role play area. At the end of the spring term the Reception children voted to decided whether they wanted a verts or a doctors for the next role play area. The vets won by a landslide.

The children have been busy working on reception booking animals into the vets, caring for the animals, performing operations and taking on the role of the animals themselves. Role play allows children a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with their peers, adding a narrative into their play. This allows children to further develop their communication and language skills within their play.

“You need to cut him open, he needs operating on.” Tele
“This dog is 2 years old and has a cut leg.” Daniel
“He’s hurt his leg, I’m bandaging it up.” Lottie
