Reading in Reception

Dear Parents and carers,

Your child will be coming home today with their reading folder. To begin with your child with bring home a book to share, initially we want to continue to foster a love of reading and sharing stories. Inside their reading folder you will find:

* A picture story book to read with your child.

* Their reading record book - You can record here when you have read with your child at home, it will also be used by the reception teaching staff who will comment when they have read with your child.

* Please note your child's reading day. This can be found at the front of the book. Your child will only need to bring their reading folder in on their reading day.

 * An information sheet detailing the importance of reading daily and how you can help and support you child with their reading at home.

**Number of the week and phonic sounds **

We will also be sending home a sheet with the number of the week on it. Along with this, we will send home the daily phonics sound sheet.

Please note these are for your children to practice at home and do not need to be returned to school. Please feel free to email us at eyfs@broadford.havering.sch.uk or send us a Parent Postcard using Evidence Me of any homework your child completes. As always, if you have any questions please come and speak to a member of the Reception Team who will be happy to help.

Kind Regards

The Reception Team

First Week in Reception 2020

The Reception children have settled in really well to school and we are so proud of them all! The children have been super busy exploring their new environment and outside areas, making new friends and getting to know their Reception teachers.

We would like to say a massive thank you to all of our parents and carers for all your support as we settle the children and all of our new routines, which are in place. Our school blog and social media pages are a great way to keep up to date with your child’s learning journey. We will be using Evidence Me to send you, your child’s observations. And this is a great way for you to share home learning, days out,  WOW moments and all things from home with us too. Please see your child’s teacher or send us an email using the address, eyfs@broadford.havering.sch.uk, if you have not received your Evidence Me Invitation.

Have a fabulous week!
