Thank you so much for coming along to our Reception Stay and Learn this week. We hope you enjoyed watching how a RWI speed sound lesson is taught.

Word time 1.1 to 1.8

As well as practising set sounds, these are words for your children to learn. Please practise these as much as possible at home. We test your children on these on their reading day.

Thank you for completing our feedback survey!

Here are some photos from the session.

Please ignore 'kindergarten' and read this as 'Reception' instead! I couldn't find a British version!

Keep up the great work at home and continue to read 5 times a week with your children!

Creative Learning

This week, the children carried out some activities to celebrate Diwlai and Bonfire Night. They enjoyed creating their very own fireworks displays using paint.  The children experimented with different methods, from flicking paint off brushes to using spiraled card to dab bursts of color. It was a fantastic way for them to explore their creativity and learn about colours.

Outdoor Learning

The children had a fantastic time exploring and playing with tunnels this week. They crawled, raced, and invented new games. The tunnels became secret hideaways, winding pathways, and even part of an exciting obstacle course.

Reception: What We Are Learning w/b 04.11.25

Reception: What We Are Learning

Reception have been working really hard this week. Our focus book was Rama and Sita.

Here is what we have been up to: The children learnt all about the Hindu Festival of Light: Diwali. We read the story of Rama and Sita. We learnt about Diwali and how Hindus and Sikhs celebrate the festival. They were able to describe how Sita was feeling during the story using emotion cards such as happy, sad or scared. The children made diyas using clay and painted and decorated them beautifully.

The children have also been working hard in Read, Write, Inc his week. The children have all been assessed and are now working in groups based on this. The children have worked hard this week to write the initial sounds that they can hear in words. We talked about what sounds fireworks make such as whizz, bang, whoosh and the children worked hard to write the initial sounds for example p for pop! Please continue to read 5 times a week with your children and work on set 1 sounds as well as word time words (1.1, 1.2, 1.3 etc).

In Maths this week the children have worked hard to find one more and one less. They were able to say what one more and one less of the numbers 1, 2 and 3 were.

Well done Reception for an amazing week - keep up all your brilliant work!

As the season is changing the children are noticing more changes in the natural enviornment. They used their gross motor skills to clean up the outoor area with a range of tools.
