Donating Toys for Children in Queen's Hospital

BBC Radio 4 - PM Highlights, Life inside A&E at Queen's Hospital, Romford

Dear Parents and Carers,

Donating Toys for Children in Queen's Hospital

Reception children at Broadford Primary School are invited to take part in The Queen’s Hospital Christmas Toy Gifting Campaign.

If your child would like to participate, we ask that they donate a new or not used toy or book for a child up to the age of 16. Please ensure that the toy or book is in good condition, without any signs of wear and tear. If the toy is previously owned but still in its original packaging or has the original labels that is perfectly fine.

These donations will be given to children who are in hospital over Christmas, including those in-patients, as well as children in Accident and Emergency, receiving blood tests, or attending clinic appointments. The charity also aims to provide small gifts to siblings who are with the sick child on Christmas Day. The goal is to collect approximately 3,000 gifts for the festive season!

The collection will end on Tuesday 17th December.  Please leave your kind donations with the Office staff in the main School Office.

Thank you for your generosity in supporting this wonderful cause.

EYFS and YR 1 Winter Wonderland

Winter Wonderland

Dear parents and carers,

On Friday 13th December, Nursery, Reception and Year 1 children are invited to Winter Wonderland!

The day will be full of fun festivities, including baking, making, cutting, crafting and festive themed games!

You do not need to do anything except send your child in wearing a Christmas jumper.

We will end the day with a hot chocolate and a Christmas bedtime story.

We can't wait for our festive day of fun with the children!

Kind regards,

Mrs Marie, Miss Hamilton and Miss Tynan

Important Information

Nappies and wipes - If your child is in nappies and requires changing in Nursery please bring nappies and also a pack of wipes. You can bring in a pack and leave this here if you would prefer to do this.

Coats, wellies, gloves and hats - As we are outside often we would advise the children to wrap up warm. Please do help us by labeling anything the children bring in as then we can help return any missing items to the correct owner! Please also encourage the children to independently try and put on their coats and hats etc at home, staff will always help if needed but we always encourage independence.

Postbox Trip - The children will be posting their christmas cards on the week of the 2nd of December. Thank you to the parents who have volunteered to support the walk. We still need more volunteers so please let a member of staff know if you are available to support.

Our Learning

This week we have been reading a story called 'Shark in the Dark'. You can listen to the story here

The children got into the festive spirit and had lots of fun decorating our Christmas tree. They worked collaboratively to place decorations on the tree. This activity was great way to develop their fine motor skills and teamwork skills.

The children enjoyed making their own shark scenes using the playdough and sea creatures. They spoke about what they may see under the sea, such as fish, sharks and whales. This was based on our story this week 'Shark in the Dark'.

Many Thanks,
The Nursery Team
