Reception Learning - W.C 26.1.26

Reception: What We Are Learning

Reception have been working really hard this week. Our focus book was The Gingerbread Man.

Here is what we have been up to:The children have been listening to the story, baking their own Gingerbread men, creating new characters for the story, crafting their own Gingerbread men and making great choices during independent choosing time.

The children have also been working hard in Read, Write, Inc this week. In Literacy, we have been writing words about The Gingerbread Man story. The children used their sound knowledge to write words including run, fast, can and catch. They also practised the red words as, me and you. Please continue to read 5 times a week with your children and work on set 1 sounds as well as word time words (1.1, 1.2, 1.3 etc). Watch this video for set  1 sound practise - Set 1 sounds

In Maths this week we have been learning about the numbers 6,7 and 8. We have sorted the numbers into different piles and used different representations to show each number. We worked well with our partners and have shown great resilience!

Just a reminder, this Monday the 2nd of February we are having our Fairytale dress up day. Children can come dressed as their favourite Fairytale characters including the Gingerbread man, Little Red Riding hood, a wolf, a princess or prince.

Well done Reception for an amazing week - keep up all your brilliant work!
