Marvellous Me Day 25th October - Reception

 MARVELLOUS ME DAY

On Friday 25th October children in Reception will be participating in a 'Marvellous Me' Day. This half term in Reception, we have been thinking about all of the things that make us marvellous. We have discussed our families, our likes and dislikes and our similarities and differences with our classmates.

 

What better way to round up this topic than to hold a WOW Day for us to celebrate all the things that make us, us? On this day, children in Reception can come to school wearing clothes of their choice. This could be their favourite outfit, clothes in their favourite colour or clothes that represent something about them. Please discuss this with your child so that they are able to share with us in school why they have chosen their outfit. 

They can also bring their favourite toy to school on this day. These will be collected in the morning and stored until our circle time when the children can share their favourite toys with their class. They will then be stored until home time to ensure safe keeping. Please do ensure that the toy is small enough and appropriate to be shared. No toy guns/swords, scary or violent fictional characters please.

Throughout the day, the children will be participating in lots of different activities celebrating them being unique. As part of our activities on this day, we will be discussing our families and what different families can look like. We would love to share photos of what your child loves doing at home. Maybe it’s reading? Or baking? Or playing in the garden? Please upload the photo to Dojo so we can share with the class just like we did with our family photos.

Nursery Learning w/b 30.9

 Nursery Learning Week beginning 30.9

We have had a lovely week in Nursery despite the recent wet weather. Thank you to the parents and carers who were able to meet with your child's key worker, if you have an appointment next week we look forward to meeting you then.

Important Information 

1. Evidence Me -Over the next month we will start sharing observations on our parent share app. Please do add your own videos and photos from home as parents can also share achievements. Please speak to a member of staff if you cannot access this app. 
2. Spare Clothes - Please leave a bag of spare clothes in Nursery, ideally this will be a labelled plastic bag. This bag should stay in school. 
3. Nappies and wipes - If your child is in nappies and requires changing in Nursery please bring nappies and also a pack of wipes.  You can bring in a pack and leave this here if you would prefer to do this. 
4. Lunches -For the children who stay for lunch, we would like to inform parents Broadford primary is a Heathy Eating school. Please do not provide nut based products such as peanut butter or Nutella as some of our children have nut allergies.
5. Coats - Autumn is now in full swing. We still have lots of opportunities for the children to access our curriculum outside so please ensure they are always appropriately dressed for the weather. Remember to label coats, hats, scarves and gloves too! 

   

                           Story Time

We have been focusing on the story 'Where's my Teddy' this week. The children have been joining in with phrases from the story. We have also used the story to support our understanding of positional language. The children have practised hiding teddies under, over, behind, in front of, next to and in between objects. 

Our two year olds have been focusing on a story called 'Heads, knees and toes'. They have been learning the names of different body parts and practicing the song 'head, shoulders, knees and toes.' 

Thank you to all of our parents and carers who came to meet their children's key workers this week. Remember we have an open door policy in Nursery so if you would like to talk to your child's key worker please do. You can also share their learning at home via our Evidence Me app. 

Toilet Training

This is an important independent skill and we will support parents to toilet train in Nursery. The following website has some good information for parents: https://eric.org.uk/potty-training/.

Outdoor learning

Despite the wet weather the children have particularly enjoyed mark making and problem solving outdoors this week. They have been working together to place guttering in different positions so the plastic balls could fit through them. The children had to practice team work and taking turns.

Toast station

The children have continued to enjoy our toast station this week. We have added jam and marmalade for them to practice their scooping and spreading skills further. They are encouraged to use cutlery carefully to spread and cut. We have been impressed with the independence they have shown!

Year Reception: What We Are Learning 

Reception have been working really hard this week. Our focus book was Sharing A Shell.

Here is what we have been up to:

The children have also been working hard in Read, Write, Inc this week. The children have been learning the sounds e, l, h, r, and j.  Please continue to read with your children and work on these sounds with them. 

In Maths this week the children have been working hard to sort objects by colour, shape or size. They also found different ways to sort themselves such as into girls and boys, by height, or hair colour. In addition to this, they compared amounts using the language more or less. The children also made their own sorting rules. Well done Reception for your excellent Maths work this week!

Nursery Certificates w/b 31/09/24

This week, two children in Nursery have received an 'E for Excellence' certificate and another one has received an 'I have made my teacher happy' certificate in recognition of all their hard work. 

Well done to Eden who has been awarded an E for excellence in recognition for being such a fantastic role model. She demonstrated this during tidy up time when she helped one of the younger children find all the correct places to put the toys away. Well done Eden!

Well done to Kingston who has been awarded an E for excellence in recognition for his excellent name writing. He has been trying very hard to independently write his name. Excellent work Kingston!

Well done to Khaleesi who has been awarded an I made my teacher happy this week because she is always willing to learn. She has shown a great love of reading and sharing books with others. Great work Khaleesi!
