We kindly ask that each child has at least one full change of clothes (including underwear and socks) kept on their peg while they are in nursery. These can be left here and replaced as needed.Recently, we’ve noticed that some of our nursery clothes are not being returned after use, which means we are running very low on spares. We completely understand that accidents and messy play happen every day, but to make sure every child is comfortable and cared for, it’s important that each child has their own spare set available.
If a child needs changing and we do not have any nursery clothes or personal spares available, we will need to contact you to bring in a change of clothes for them.
We would also like to say a big thank you to all the families who have kindly donated clothes that their children no longer need. Your generosity really helps us to keep our nursery well-stocked and supports all of our little learners.

In our malleable area this week, we linked our play to our key text, Owl Babies. The children used brown playdough to shape their very own little owls. They practised rolling the dough into balls and gently squeezing and pinching it into owl-like shapes, wonderful fine motor work!
To bring their owls to life, the children added feathers, googly eyes, and a variety of tools to make wings, beaks, and fluffy textures. Each owl turned out completely unique, and the children were so proud of their creations.
It was a lovely mix of storytelling, creativity, and hands-on exploration!

This week in maths, we’ve been practising a wonderful early number skill called subitising, that clever ability to look at a small group of objects and instantly know how many there are without counting one by one!
The children have had great fun spotting quick amounts during our games and activities. We’ve been using everyday objects, picture cards, and even little collections of classroom treasures. After taking a quick look, the children show the number on their fingers, helping them connect what they see to what they know. We’ve also been matching these quantities to written numerals, building that early link between real objects and number symbols.

his week, we also had lots of fun exploring the tunnels in our outdoor area! The children experimented with different ways of travelling through them, crawling, sliding, wriggling, even pretending to be animals sneaking through a secret passage!
One of the loveliest parts to watch was how beautifully they encouraged and supported each other. Some children acted as little cheerleaders at the tunnel entrances, offering brave words like “You can do it!” and celebrating each other’s successes as they popped out the other end with big smiles.
It was a brilliant mix of teamwork, confidence-building, and imaginative play!
To mark Remembrance Day, the children took part in some thoughtful and creative activities. We began by painting large-scale poppies, using bold brushstrokes and rich red shades to create beautiful artwork. The children really enjoyed working on a bigger scale, it gave them the chance to make sweeping movements and explore texture and colour in a hands-on way.
In our tuff tray, we added another layer of learning by using Duplo bricks to build walls for the soldiers. The children worked carefully to construct strong, sturdy structures, chatting about how soldiers might have used walls for protection. It was a lovely blend of imaginative play and gentle conversation about the meaning behind Remembrance Day.
These activities helped the children connect creativity with understanding, all in a calm and respectful way.
We also turned our tuff tray into a colourful sensory surprise! First, we painted the tray with bright, eye-catching colours, then sprinkled black rice over the top. When the children began to draw patterns through the rice, the colours underneath peeked through, it looked just like fireworks lighting up the night sky! A perfect link to Firework Night last week.
The children were completely absorbed in the activity. They loved the crunchy noise the rice made as they moved it around, and the whole experience provided a wonderful mix of sensory play, creativity, and early mark-making.
It was messy, magical, and absolutely marvellous!
his week, the children have been busy exploring shapes using our magnetic building blocks. They were fascinated by how the pieces clicked together, there were lots of excited “Listen! It stuck!” moments!
Once they discovered how easily the shapes connected, their imaginations took off. They experimented with making their creations bigger and bigger, adding extra blocks, trying new combinations, and proudly showing off their growing structures. It was wonderful to see their problem-solving skills, creativity, and teamwork all shine through.
Our little engineers were truly in their element!
