Nursery Weekly Newsletter

Term: Autumn 2 Date 09.12.13 & 16.12.13

It is that time of year where there is glitter everywhere in the Nursery! The children have had great fun learning about Christmas, using ‘Santa’s Workshop’ and taking part in various Christmas arts and crafts activities.
We will continue to read Christmas stories and we will be singing the Christmas songs and practising for the Christmas Concert.

Personal, Social and Emotional
Interested in others play and starting to join in.
Shows understanding and cooperates with some boundaries and routines.
Listens, joins in and follows instructions when practising the Christmas Concert.

Communication and Language
Joining in with the songs and lines for the Christmas concert.
Learns new words rapidly and uses them in communicating
Understands more complex sentences. 

Physical Development:
Shows fine motor control, e.g when wrapping presents.
Helps with clothing, e.g puts on own hat, unzips and zips coat.
Beginning to balance blocks to build a small tower. 

Mathematics
Recap on all of the number songs.
Selects a small number of objects from a group.
Anticipate specific time based events, such as snack time or home time.

Understanding of the World
Notices detailed features
Seeks to acquire basic skills in turning on and off operating some ICT equipment.
Notices detailed features of objects in their environment. 

Expressive Arts and Design
Making Christmas cards, calendars and decorations.
Role playing in the cottage/Santas workshop.
Beginning to make believe by pretending.


Messages.

This will be the final newsletter for this term. Firstly, thank you to all of the parents who promptly sent in the costumes. Secondly we would like to say a big thank you for all of your support and kindness throughout the term. We trust your children have enjoyed their first term with us as much as we have.
