Reception Weekly Newsletter

Term: Summer 1 Date 28.04.14

What a fantastic start to the term! Last week was filled with curriculum enrichments from releasing butterflies to the arrival of chicks and then in between enjoying a visit from the bug man. This week we will be completing follow up work relating to these wonderful curriculum enrichments. Our book of the week is, ‘The Bad Tempered Ladybird’.

Your child will be taking part in the following activities within the seven areas of development (although the skills remain the same, the activities may differ depending on the children’s interests):

Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Continuing to care for our chicks and handling them during circle time working as part of a group and following the rules.

Communication and Language
All the children have a set reading day. Please make sure their book is in school at least for their reading day. We praise the children who regularly read at home to an adult and have a reward system in place.
Sharing the story of, ‘The bad tempered ladybird’ and getting the children to ask, who, what why and how questions.

Messages:
Please follow Broadford on facebook (remember to press the ‘like’ button) and twitter. We update the Early Years blog regularly with photos and information.

Homework:
Please continue to read daily with your child and sign their reading record. When your child brings home their words, please practise them as this supports their learning in school.

Many thanks to the children and parents who regularly bring in work from home that the children have done at home – it is always lovely to see children following up their learning at home. We have recently seen some fantastic writing and super artwork from the children.

Thank you for your continued support.
