Term: Summer 1 Date: 06.05.14
We had a special visitor last week. PC Wayne Hopkins came in to see us and to tell us about his day to day duties. The children listened well and asked some inquisitive questions. Please look out for the photos on our page.
The story this week will be, ‘The Little Red Hen’ and the songs will be ‘The Farmers in the Den’ and ‘Baa Baa Black Sheep’.
Personal, Social and Emotional
Can tell adults when hungry or tired.
Can play in a group, extending and elaborating play ideas.
Enjoys the responsibility of carrying out small tasks.
Communication and Language
Can retell a past event in the correct order.
Uses talk to connect ideas, explain what is happening and anticipate what might happen next, recall and relive past experiences.
Builds up vocabulary that builds up the breadth of their experience.
Physical Development:
Can stand momentarily on one foot when shown.
Can catch a large ball.
Moves feely in a variety of ways slithering, shuffling, rolling, crawling, running, jumping, skipping, sliding, hopping.
Mathematics
Show an interest in representing numbers.
Knows that a group of object changes in quantity when something is added or taken away.
Sometimes matches numeral and quantity correctly.
Understanding of the World
Shows an interest in technological toys with knobs or pulleys or real life objects such as mobiles or cameras. Knows how to operate simple equipment.
Shows care and concern for living things and the environment.
Can talk about some of the things they have observed such as plants, animals
Expressive Arts and Design
Understands that they can use lines to enclose a space, and then begin to use these shapes to represent objects.
Uses available resources to create props for role play.
Beginning to be interested in and describe the texture of things.
Literacy
Gives meaning to marks.
Can copy some letters in their name.
Holds pencil near point between first 2 fingers and thumb.
Messages.
We will also be having a visit from Wellingate Farm today. This fits in nicely with our ‘People Who help us’ topic. We are sure this will be a fantastic experience for the children, make sure you look out for the photos.
We will continue to learn our sounds, this week we will focus on ‘a’ , your child can bring something in beginning with ‘a’, please write your child’s name on it if possible.
