Ready, steady, bake!

Today Reception began making and baking their own gingerbread men.

As part of our 'Traditional Tales' topic, we have been reading and enjoying 'The Gingerbread Man'. Today we were really excited to make our own gingerbread men, using our very own recipe that we have been learning, practicing and refining since we joined school in September. We first used this recipe after our shopping trip to Lidl, but we are now able to read it and follow it all by ourselves!

First, we had to select the right resources and ingredients. We used our phonics to help us read and follow the recipe.

Then we had to use our maths skills to carefully count the correct number of spoonfuls of our ingredients into our mixture!

We were great at sharing and turn-taking to ensure that we all had a go mixing and rolling out our dough.

Finally, our teachers did the tricky work at the oven and we were finally able to enjoy our gingerbread men!

We had lots of fun and it was a great afternoon in Reception!
