Reception children have enjoyed scooping the insides from pumpkins in the sand tray and picking out the seeds with the tweezers. They used some great language to describe how the pumpkin felt and smelt and spoke about their own experiences of carving pumpkins for Halloween.

"I'm making pumpkin soup, look it's gooey!"

"Do you know you can make pumpkin pies! My mum made pumpkin cakes at the weekend."

"It's yucky! It feels so slimed!"

" Look I've picked up 4 seeds now."
