Weekly Nursery Newsletter 13.10.14

Term: Autumn 1
Date: 13.10.13
This week we will be carrying out many activities including scissor control, dough disco and building models. The children will continue to sing nursery rhymes and act out stories. We will be singing ‘Incy, Wincy, Spider’ and ‘Polly put the kettle on’. We will be reading the story  ‘The Tiger who came to Tea’.
Personal, Social and Emotional
  • Growing sense of will and determination.
  • Begins to learn some things are theirs some things are shared and some things belong to other people.
  • Responds to a few appropriate boundaries, with encouragement and support.
Communication and Language
  • Selects objects by names and will go and find objects when asked, or identify objects from a group.
  • Uses different types of every day words (Nouns, verbs and adjectives)
  • Understands simple sentences.
Literacy
  • Interest in books and rhymes and may have favourites.
  • Early mark making through sensory activities ‘Dough Disco’ and ‘Finger Gym’.
Physical Development
  • Makes connections between their movement and the marks they make.
  • Beginning to balance blocks to build a small tower.
  • Shows awareness and uses the toilet when they have a bladder or bowel urge.
Mathematics
  • Says some counting words randomly particularly during counting songs.
  • Enjoys filling and emptying containers.
  • Beginning to organise and categorise objects, especially when tidying up.
Understanding of the World
  • Beginning to talk about people and things that are not present.
  • Remembers where objects belong.
  • Matches parts of objects that fit together.
Expressive Arts and Design
  • Makes connections between movements and the marks they make.
  • Explores and experiments with a range of media through sensory exploration, and using whole body.
  • Expresses self through physical action and sound.
Messages
  • Many of you have already begun borrowing books for your children, if you haven’t please see a member of staff who will be happy assist you. You should have all received a book review sheet last week, if you need another one please help yourself they can be found with the books.
  • The children had an amazing time with the Owl Man last week, they sat beautifully and listened. There are lots of photos on our EYFS blog. Thank you for making the going home transition run so smoothly.
  • The Nursery Parental Consultations will take place throughout the week commencing Monday 20th October. You will shortly be informed of your time.
  • We regularly update our EYFS blog. Please like our Broadford Primary Facebook page every time you see an EYFS blog. Feel free to make a comment on the children’s experiences.
