Weeds, weeds, weeds!

Reception have been busy preparing their flower beds ready for some more planting. The daffodils have now finished flowering and the children dug up the bulbs to store for later in the year. Whilst pulling up the bulbs the children were amazed to observe the roots they could see growing from the bulbs. They also looked at the other parts including the leaves, stem and bulb. The children also had to remove the weeds in the flower beds. As we removed the weeds we discussed why we needed to remove them.

The children are very excited to plant the beanstalks we have been growing into our flower beds and hopefully some sunflowers soon! Watch this space!

"These are the roots, they are white. What do they do?" Millie
"My beanstalk is the tallest" Awwal
"This weed is really tricky, look how big it is!" John
