Good luck!

Reminder:

Can Parents please bring in Wellington boots and a drawstring bag with spare clothes ASAP.

Please LABEL  all your children's belongings, including both shoes.

Please do not bring bags daily into nursery due to lack of space on pegs. Spare clothes are stored in the changing rooms.

Thank you

Two year old focus

This week we have been learning about our emotions; happy, sad and angry. We have been developing our positive sense of self and how to wait and take turns. We have been learning new words to help extend our play.

“Ngenge, ready your chicken”

Said Akela to his teacher after asking for help with his apron.

Our focus nursery rhyme after half term will be:

Our focus learning

Maths: the children have been focussing on shapes this week through thor play. We have played fun shape games with dice and our peers, taking turns. We have also been learning to identify 2D shapes based on sight and name. We have also been practicing our number recognition from 0 to 10 during circle time.

“I found square” said Damien

“Look its a rhombus”

Said Emma

Zhyan said

“Look I found a hexagon, 2 hexagons and one circle”

As he threaded shapes onto his string.

“We found all the shapes”

Said Ava-rose.

Physical: The children have been practicing gross motor movements outdoors balancing on boards and crawling through tunnels. Indoors we have been developing our hand muscles by spreading jam on toast, marking making and applying pressure to use the hole punchers.

Black history Month

The children enjoyed taking part in our black history carnival parade. We congo style danced around the nursery to Trinidadian soca, played on steel pans. The children learnt about the steel pan and used sticks and similar shaped bowls to recreate the steel pan sounds. We watched a video of children wearing costumes from Notting Hill carnival.

We all had a fun time

Morning Carnival parade

Afternoon Carnival Parade

“Wow, they are beautiful. I want to wear that one”

Said Teddy-James

All ready for Carnival

Our social skills

We have been working together with our peers to construct during play; taking turns, listening to others ideas whilst having so much fun.

Nursery rhyme of the week

Our nursery rhyme of the week is: One, two buckle my shoe

A big thank you!

We would like to say a big thank you to Lujah’s dad, Jimmie, for taking time to visit and help us plant some lovely flowers in our nursery garden. The children had lots of fun helping.
