Book of the week
The children have enjoyed a selection of stories linked to Minibeasts including:
Nursery rhyme of the week
This week the children continued to learn Five Little Speckled Frogs.
Here are the lyrics:
FIVE little speckled frogs,
Sat on a speckled log,
Eating some most delicious bugs - yum, yum!
One jumped into the pool,
Where it was nice and cool,
Then there were FOUR speckled frogs - glug, glug!
FOUR little speckled frogs,
Sat on a speckled log,
Eating some most delicious bugs - yum, yum!
One jumped into the pool,
Where it was nice and cool,
Then there were THREE speckled frogs - glug, glug!
THREE little speckled frogs,
Sat on a speckled log,
Eating some most delicious bugs - yum, yum!
One jumped into the pool,
Where it was nice and cool,
Then there were TWO speckled frogs - glug, glug!
TWO little speckled frogs,
Sat on a speckled log,
Eating some most delicious bugs - yum, yum!
One jumped into the pool,
Where it was nice and cool,
Then there was ONE speckled frog - glug, glug!
ONE little speckled frog,
Sat on a speckled log,
Eating some most delicious bugs - yum, yum!
He jumped into the pool,
Where it was nice and cool,
Then there were NO speckled frogs.
Learning Through Play
This week’s learning has involved:
Hunting for minibeasts in the garden and observing how they move
Discussing what different minibeasts eat
Learning about the different places minibeasts live
Keeping a tick list of the minibeasts they have identified
Creating a wormery with Mrs Luca (and adding lots of other minibeasts including woodlice!)
2 year old focus
This week the two year olds have focused on the story Beetle in the Bathroom and Incy Wincy Spider. They were able to name familiar minibeasts and learn the names of others including: woodlouse, grasshopper and centipede.
Understanding of the world
Blue group talked about the minibeasts they can find at this time of year and hunt for in the nursery garden. They found a tiny green caterpillar!
French Friday
Last term the nursery children learnt three French songs which you may wish to revisit at home:
This term will include more French songs which we will blog!
Preparing for Reception
Each week we will include a tip to help prepare your child for reception; although it seems a long way off the summer term will shortly pass and September will be here before we know it!
Tip of the week:
Let your child get out of their buggy/ pram and walk to and from nursery with you. This promotes healthy exercise, gets their steps up and bodies moving which is especially important in the early years! It will also promote a higher level of independence and maturity at a level that is age appropriate.
Focus child Meetings
Each week children will be chosen to be observed by their keyworker. Emails will be sent home to inform parents of the upcoming parent meeting taking place the following week, either in person or via telephone. Parents will have an opportunity to complete a form asking questions and sharing concerns they may have for the key worker to answer during the parent meeting. This form will be sent via email. Please check your emails weekly for school communications and evidence me parents share from your children's teachers. Parents are welcome to upload pictures and videos of their children at home.
