Marvellous Maths in Reception
This week we continued to develop the understanding that all numbers are made of smaller numbers. We explored and noticed the different compositions of 5. For example, 5 can be composed of 1 and 1 and 3 or 0 and 5. To better understand this concept, we used a part part whole model to investigate the smaller numbers that can be added together to make 5.
These songs were sung to help us further understand the composition of 5.
5 little monkeys jumping on the bed
5 little speckled frogsActivities
Aditi: There are two frogs in the water"
Amedea: " 2 monkeys are jumping"

Brodie: "3 and 2 makes 5"
Rosie: " 2 is part of 5 and 3 is part of 5"
Jessica: " 0 and 5 makes 5"
Freddie: " 4 is part of 5"
Anu: "1,2,3,4..."
