Nursery Learning 21.04.25

Important dates:

Bank Holiday- 5th May

INSET day- 21st July

The children have had a great first week back at nursery and have been keeping busy. Our focus book this week was 'Jack and the Beanstalk'. This story led to the discussion of growing and changing, which we explored in our focus group time. The children will soon be growing their very own cress heads and will learn to care for them and watch them grow!

Communication and langauge

This week the children have continue to recognise rhyming patterns in words. The children are learning to hear that the rhyming patterns are found at the end of the words.
Practise finding the words that rhyme with the following words:

Moon (Spoon)
Bat (Cat)
Bee (Tree)

Expressive Arts and Design

The focus on the art table has been how to use a glue stick correctly. To help practise this skill, the children designed a flower with collage paper.

Understanding of the World

On Wednesday, the children had lots of fun learning about the history of St Georges' Day! They listened to a story about George and the Dragon and then made their own St Georges' Day flags.

Physical development

The children were provided with loose part materials needed to make flowers on the playdough table. The children moulded and shaped the dough in different ways to make thier own type of flower.

The children have had lots of fun outside continuing to develop their balance and co-ordination skills.

Continuous Provision

Inside we have added some enhancements to our continuous provision areas. The children have especially loved the new connecting rods in the construction area. They enjoyed building houses and buildings as tall as them!
