Year Reception: What We Are Learning
Reception have been working really hard this week. Our focus book was Easter and Diversity.
Here is what we have been up to: We have learnt about Easter, Lent, Ramadan and Eid. We have created art associated with Easter. We made yellow chicks using paint. We also did an exciting Easter egg hunt and received yummy treats at the end!
The children have also been working hard in Read, Write, Inc this week. In Literacy, we wrote a mind map about Easter. We used words such as hunt, chick, fun, egg, chocolate, lamb and Spring. Please continue to read 5 times a week with your children and work on set 1 sounds as well as word time words (1.1, 1.2, 1.3 etc).
In Maths this week the children have made Easter bonnets with complex patterns on them to wear for our Easter bonnet parade. They enjoyed cutting and sticking Easter pictures!
Easter Bonnet Parade
This week we also participated in the school Easter Bonnet Parade. We listened to music, danced and showed our fabulous Easter bonnets.
World Culture and Religion day
For World Culture and Religion Day, children were invited to come to school in any attire that best represents their culture or religion. We did 3 mini-lessons about different cultures/ religions. The children learnt about Aboriginal Australian dreamtime stories, the Islam religion and Caribbean culture and music.
Well done Reception for an amazing half term. Have a happy Easter and we will see you when we return on 22nd of April 2025!
