 Year Reception: What We Are Learning 

This term our topic is Plants and Growth. Our focus book this week was Oliver’s Vegetables.

Here is what we have been up to:

The children have been working hard in Read, Write, Inc this week. The children have all been reassessed and are now working in groups based on this. This week we continued to learn all about Plants. 

We recapped our red words the,a,I,of,he,go,to,my,was,you,we and remembered that sentences begin with a capital letter and end with a full stop. This week we learnt how to write the red word ‘they’. We wrote about our favourite vegetable.

Please continue to read 5 times a week with your children and work on set 1 or 2 sounds as well as word time words (1.1, 1.2, 1.3 etc).

We also planted our own seeds!

We also learnt about Earth day and how it encourages people around the world to think and learn about what we can do to look after our planet. As a class, we nominated one person to switch off the lights as we leave the class for lunch everyday. This will promote sustainability within the school.
