Dear Parents,
Thank you for your support during a week of very hot weather! We have had lots of fun water play this week, thank you for making sure the children have shoes they can take on and off easy and are easy to dry after getting wet.
The children thoroughly enjoyed playing in the sand pit, which was filled with fresh sand. They used their imaginations to turn the area into a beach, filling buckets, scooping sand, and creating their own games. Sand play helps develop fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and early mathematical concepts such as measuring and comparing quantities. It also encourages creativity, communication, and cooperative play with friends.
This week, the children had great fun painting around shapes and transforming them into imaginative pictures. As they painted, they explored different shapes, colours, and designs, discussing their creations with friends and practitioners. Activities like these support early mathematical learning through shape recognition while also developing creativity and fine motor skills. We loved seeing the children's unique ideas come to life as they proudly shared their artwork.
The children thoroughly enjoyed a variety of water play experiences this week, helping them stay cool while exploring and learning through play. They created their own potions using lavender, cornflour, and water, mixing ingredients and investigating different textures, scents, and changes in consistency. The children also set up a relaxing foot spa in the shade, providing opportunities to talk about self-care, wellbeing, and ways to keep cool in hot weather.
Using shaving foam, the children created imaginative ice creams, developing their creativity and sensory awareness as they explored the soft, foamy texture. On the hottest days, everyone had great fun with the sprinklers and hose, cooling themselves and the ground while enjoying active outdoor play. Water play encourages communication, cooperation, problem-solving, and early scientific thinking as children experiment, predict, and discover through hands-on experiences.
