Year Reception: What We Are Learning
Our focus was this week was Rosie’s walk and Father’s Day.
Here is what we have been up to:
This week in Literacy we wrote Fathers Day cards. The children wrote why their dad is the best and expressed how much they love them. We had reasons such as my dad builds blocks with me, my dad makes me ramen and noodles, my dad hugs me and my dad is kind to me. Please continue to read 5 times a week with your children and work on set 1 or 2 sounds as well as word time words (1.1, 1.2, 1.3 etc).
We also had a karate workshop. The children were shown a range of different moves. A letter was sent home about the children joining in the after school club for karate starting in September.
We had our sports afternoon where the children showed great resilience and reciprocity while completing a range of activities.
In Maths this week the children have been focusing on positional language. Positional language is the words we use to describe where something is or where it is moving in relation to something else. Kids learn positional language to understand directions, locations, and how objects relate to one another.
Examples:
In the tunnel
On the table
Under the desk
Next to the door
Behind the tree
In front of the house
