Nursery Newsletter 25.01.16


Term:  Spring 1                          Date 25.01.16

The children had a wonderful time at the Circus Skills Workshop last week, photos have been put on our Early Years Page please take a look at them and like them.   We will continue with our animal topic and this week we will start to look at farm animals.   We will be reading and singing ‘Old McDonald’ and ‘Five little ducks’.

We will continue with the teaching of phonics, we will teach ‘d’ next.  The children have picked up the phonics really well and are enjoying all of the phonics related games.

Personal, Social and Emotional

  • Plays alongside others.
  • Is aware of others' feelings, for example, looks concerned if hears crying or looks excited if hears a familiar happy voice.
  • Responds to the feelings and wishes of others.

Communication and Language

  • Developing understanding of simple concepts
  • Developing understanding of simple concepts (e.g. big/little).
  • Beginning to ask simple questions.

Literacy

  • Imitates drawing simple shapes such as circles and lines.
  • Joins in with repeated refrains and anticipates key events and phrases in rhymes and stories.
  • Shows interest in play with sounds, songs and rhymes.

 Physical Development:

  • Drinks well without spilling.
  • Can kick a large ball.
  • Develops likes and dislikes for food.

Mathematics

  • Recites some number names in sequence.
  • Creates and experiments with symbols and marks representing ideas of number.
  • Begins to use the language of size.

 Understanding of the World

  • Explores objects by linking together different approaches: shaking, hitting, looking, feeling, tasting, mouthing, pulling, turning and poking
  • Learns that they have similarities and differences that connect them to, and distinguish them from, others.
  • Enjoys playing with small world models, such as farms.

Expressive Arts and Design

  • Begins to move to music, listen to or join in rhymes or songs.
  • Joins in singing favourite songs.
  • Notices and is interested in the effects of making movements which leave marks.

Please ensure your child is dressed suitable for the cold weather,   Also please ensure all removable items are named, if the children remove their jumper  and it is not named it is very difficult to return it to them.
